This privacy policy is tailored for the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority (TTCAA). It ensures compliance with the Civil Aviation Act, 2001, the Trinidad and Tobago Data Protection Act (Ch. 22:04), and international regulations (such as GDPR/EEA for foreign operators flying into local airspace).

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal and technical data to manage the national flight registry:

  • Operator Details: Individual or corporate name, physical address, email, and phone number.
  • Aircraft & Flight Details: Airframe registration marks, call signs, flight path logs, and journey permits.
  • Crew Credentials: Pilot and crew names, flight license numbers, and medical tracking information.
  • Drone Registrations: Owner identities, drone serial numbers, and operational specifications via drones@caa.gov.tt.

3. Legal Basis and Purpose

Data processing is governed by national law and international safety conventions:

  • Legal Obligation: Meeting standard safety criteria dictated by the Civil Aviation Act, 2001 and ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).
  • Public Task: Fulfilling the statutory authority to maintain national airspace safety and secure the twin-island flight registry.
  • Local Compliance: Alignment with the foundational privacy pillars outlined under Parts I and II of the Trinidad and Tobago Data Protection Act.

4. Data Sharing and Mandatory Disclosures

Flight registry and passenger/crew data are protected but will be disclosed to:

  • Regional and international aviation safe-keeping entities (such as ICAO and CARICOM IMPACS).
  • Emergency search-and-rescue services handling local transits.
  • Local law enforcement, border agencies, and national security organs under Act No. 7 of 2026 (Advance Passenger Information and Passenger Name Record Act).

5. International Data Transfers

When transferring registration data outside Trinidad and Tobago (including to the EEA or third-party states), the TTCAA employs Standard Contractual Clauses or relies on formal multilateral civil aviation treaties to safeguard your personal data.

6. Data Retention

Flight records, licensing entries, and aircraft registries are held permanently or for a minimum duration of 10 years following the decommissioning of an aircraft or expiration of a crew license to satisfy global aviation audit requirements.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your residency jurisdiction (including the EEA/GDPR zones), you hold the following data rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of your records listed on the flight registry.
  • Rectification: Demand immediate correction of inaccurate operator contact details or crew statuses.
  • Objection: File an official inquiry with the TTCAA directly regarding automated flight tracking or regulatory entries.
